Description

Among the orchard ruins of Caer Lume, Sable Redwhisper is known less by reputation than by the moment after danger passes. Witnesses remember the quiet, the measured breath, and the sudden certainty that someone had already understood the room. As a tiefling rogue, he knows which doors are watched, which windows stick, and which lies sound rehearsed. When trouble closes in, speed and preparation make a narrow opening as useful as an open gate.
Sable Redwhisper learned the foundations of the craft from a retired caravan scout, who demanded three answers before offering any lesson: who would benefit, who would pay the price, and what would remain when the excitement ended.
Suspicion from others has been answered with humor, preparation, and chosen loyalty. That inheritance shaped his habits but never dictated them. Sable Redwhisper still steals secrets more often than coin and keeps only the dangerous ones, and keeps a river-stone carved with three lines as a reminder of the first time good intentions proved insufficient.
The turning point came when a guild that erases names from public record arrived under legal seal and began removing people whose names had quietly vanished from the district rolls. Officials called it an accounting correction. Sable
Redwhisper called it a hunt. He broke the first convoy before dawn, led seven prisoners through service tunnels beneath the ward, and left the empty wagon in the magistrate's courtyard.
From that morning onward, every reward posted for his capture also became a warning to those who might otherwise have stood alone.
Recently, Sable Redwhisper uncovered a message concealed inside a temple bell. The clue connects the old arrests to a chamber beneath the city where a forgotten agreement is still being enforced. Now the trail has narrowed to one dangerous purpose: return a stolen name to its rightful owner. Sable
Redwhisper has accepted that the next door may close forever once crossed. Even so, the equipment is ready, the route is memorized, and one place beside the fire has been left empty for whoever returns.
