Description

Among the bell district of Orison, Orla Moonblink is known less by reputation than by the moment after danger passes.
Witnesses remember the quiet, the measured breath, and the sudden certainty that someone had already understood the room. As a owlin bard, he collects melodies, rumors, and the truths people reveal between verses. When trouble closes in, a song can steady allies, unsettle tyrants, or disguise a warning.
Orla Moonblink learned the foundations of the craft from an exile who never gave a true name, who demanded three answers before offering any lesson: who would benefit, who would pay the price, and what would remain when the excitement ended. Silence, height, and patient observation offer advantages louder heroes overlook. That inheritance shaped his habits but never dictated them. Orla Moonblink still knows that applause is often the softest kind of trap, and keeps a river-stone carved with three lines as a reminder of the first time good intentions proved insufficient.
The turning point came when a cult that listens beneath locked floors arrived under legal seal and began removing people whose names had quietly vanished from the district rolls.
Officials called it an accounting correction. Orla Moonblink called it a hunt. He broke the first convoy before dawn, led seven prisoners through service tunnels beneath the ward, and left the empty wagon in the magistrate's courtyard. From that morning onward, every reward posted for his capture also became a warning to those who might otherwise have stood alone.
Recently, Orla Moonblink uncovered a familiar mark cut into fresh stone. The clue connects the old arrests to a chamber beneath the city where a forgotten agreement is still being enforced. Now the trail has narrowed to one dangerous purpose: open the gate that was sealed a generation ago. Orla
Moonblink has accepted that the next door may close forever once crossed. Even so, the equipment is ready, the route is memorized, and one place beside the fire has been left empty for whoever returns.
