Description

Among the frostbound walls of Veyr, Morrow Frame is known less by reputation than by the moment after danger passes.
Witnesses remember the quiet, the measured breath, and the sudden certainty that someone had already understood the room. As a warforged warlock, he draws power from a bargain whose smallest clauses are still unfolding. When trouble closes in, strange signs and borrowed fire answer when ordinary weapons fail.
Morrow Frame learned the foundations of the craft from an exile who never gave a true name, who demanded three answers before offering any lesson: who would benefit, who would pay the price, and what would remain when the excitement ended. Purpose is no longer an order received, but a question answered each day. That inheritance shaped his habits but never dictated them. Morrow Frame still records every favor granted by the unseen patron and intends to settle the account, and keeps a tiny glass vial filled with red sand as a reminder of the first time good intentions proved insufficient.
The turning point came when the ash-robed judges of the old court arrived under legal seal and began removing people whose names had quietly vanished from the district rolls.
Officials called it an accounting correction. Morrow Frame called it a hunt. He broke the first convoy before dawn, led seven prisoners through service tunnels beneath the ward, and left the empty wagon in the magistrate's courtyard. From that morning onward, every reward posted for his capture also became a warning to those who might otherwise have stood alone.
Recently, Morrow Frame uncovered a message concealed inside a temple bell. The clue connects the old arrests to a chamber beneath the city where a forgotten agreement is still being enforced. Now the trail has narrowed to one dangerous purpose: return a stolen name to its rightful owner. Morrow
Frame has accepted that the next door may close forever once crossed. Even so, the equipment is ready, the route is memorized, and one place beside the fire has been left empty for whoever returns.
